The LDA in partnership with the Galway Harbour Company (GHC) have been working to develop detailed proposals for the regeneration of the Galway inner harbour area. In 2024 the Government agreed the transfer of the 1.4-hectare site within the inner harbour to the LDA for the delivery of housing.

The first phase, Amharc Atalia, the project's working title, will ensure the delivery of much needed affordable and social homes in Galway City, the development of 356 affordable and social homes comprising 172 one bed, 169 two bed, 15 three bed apartments also include a new public plaza, a landscaped coastal walking path, communal gardens, play areas, retail units and a creche.

A masterplan had been published with details on the proposal. The Lodgement of a planning application followed a joint public consultation process on both the wider masterplan Galway Harbour Draft Masterplan 2025 and Amharc Atalia.

Subject to planning approval, construction is scheduled to commence in Q4 2027.
