The Land Development Agency (LDA) in partnership with the Galway Harbour Company (GHC) announce the commencement of a consultation and stakeholder engagement process for the Galway Inner Harbour draft masterplan and first phase of that masterplan. The first phase to be known as ‘Amharc Atalia’ will be delivered by the LDA and is a proposed residential development of 350 affordable and social homes comprising 175 one bed, 161 two bed, 14 three bed apartments.

The LDA and GHC have been working closely to develop detailed proposals for the regeneration of the site as well as the wider inner harbour. Today they are launching a joint consultation on a Draft Masterplan for the wider inner harbour and the proposals for the proposed Phase 1 development.

‘Amharc Atalia’ (the working title for the project) will ensure the delivery of much needed affordable and social homes in Galway City. In 2024 the Government agreed the transfer of the 1.4-hectare site within the inner harbour to the LDA for the delivery of housing.

The LDA and the Galway harbour Company are seeking views from the local community on the draft proposals to inform final masterplan and the planning application for Phase 1 ‘Amharc Atalia’ and is encouraging residents, businesses and community groups to engage and contribute to the design process.
