The LDA in partnership with the Galway Harbour Company (GHC) have been working to develop detailed proposals for the regeneration of the Galway Inner Harbour area. In 2024 the Government agreed the transfer of the 1.4-hectare site within the inner harbour to the LDA for the delivery of housing.
The first phase, Amharc Atalia (the working title for the project), will ensure the delivery of much needed affordable and social homes in Galway City, delivering a residential development of 350 affordable and social homes comprising 175 one bed, 161 two bed, 14 three bed apartments. A masterplan has been published with details on the proposal.
The LDA and GHC have completed joint consultation and stakeholder engagement process for the planned redevelopment of Galway Inner Harbour. Work is underway towards publishing a Consultation and Stakeholder Engagement Report in advance of a planning application.
