Taoiseach, Micheál Martin along with Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage, James Browne TD and Cathaoirleach of Dun Laoghaire Rathdown, Cllr Barry Saul, today officially marked the start of construction at Dún Brí, Dundrum, Dublin 14.
The new development, delivered in partnership by the Land Development Agency (LDA) and Dun Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council (DLRCC) will provide 934 much-needed homes across two project stages, and considerable amenities. Built by John Paul Construction, the homes in Phase 1 are a mix of apartments, set alongside a new creche, retail spaces and a restaurant.
The first phase of the development includes 203 one-bed, 300 two-bed, and 44 three-bed apartments, which will all feature balconies or terraces.
Dún Brí is more than a housing development; located on the Dundrum Road, the project will feature a crèche, a café and retail spaces, a new community park, landscaped grounds, a restored walled gardens and a civic plaza.

A new community centre with indoor sports facilities and a medical centre will be brought forward in Phase 2 of the development.
In tandem with increased permeability through the development, these amenities will ensure that a new community can integrate into the existing locality. A new active travel route will provide a safe route for cyclists to travel across the site.
Dún Brí is well served by public transport infrastructure. This includes the Windy Arbour Luas stop (400 meters), multiple Dublin Bus connections to Dublin city centre, as well as being a short distance from the M50 (Junction 13).
As a significant historic site, considerable effort has been made to retain and reuse many of the buildings on the grounds. This ensures the preservation of the area’s architectural heritage while bringing these buildings back to life.
Key to the planning of the project has been the emphasis placed on protecting mature existing trees and enhancing biodiversity in the green open spaces.
