The Land Development Agency published The Spatial Framework for The Colbert Quarter in Limerick in December 2022. This Spatial Framework sets out a vision for the area with principles to guide its future development, aligning with key objectives and policies within the Limerick Development Plan 2022-2028. It also supports and aligns with the ambitious growth plans for Limerick for compact urban growth and optimising brownfield land as set out in the National Planning Framework. The Colbert Quarter project will transform this part of Limerick city, incorporating new urban districts to be developed over time delivering potentially 2,800 homes in addition to commercial floorspace and public spaces alongside sustainable transport options.
In November 2023, the LDA launched a consultation stage on a draft masterplan for the first move on this site at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
